WELCOME PARENTS,
I'm thrilled that your son/daughter is in my class and I am looking forward to what this year holds! I believe in not only teaching my students so that they can increase in knowledge, but to encourage them and remind them that they are listened to, believed in, trusted, cared for, that they will succeed, and that most of all, they are important. Teaching in a private school has been an absolute blessing because I am able to incorporate the Lord into the curriculum. I want to get to know you as well as your children, so I will be sending home an information packet attached with pages for you to fill out and return.
In our class, we will merely be adding on to their previous knowledge from the previous school year. Our curriculum includes: adding and subtracting numbers from 20, spelling words every other week, doing small science projects and reading at a second grade level. Since we are a private school, we will be learning a key story from the bible every two weeks, and at the end of the second week they will have to interpret their understanding. As a class we will push each other to become better students and also for me to become a better teacher.
"The mediocre teacher tells, the good teacher explains, the superior teacher
demonstrates, the great teacher inspires."

Student of the week
Each week a student will be chosen that represented the class
rules and how to be a great "mustang". The student will be rewarded with candy
of their choice, a certificate and get their "All About Me" posted outside of
the classroom. At the end of the month, each student that was awarded will get
their name in a bigger drawing for a prize from their principal. It is a great
privilege to be awarded student of the week and each student should strive for
the title each week. Every student in the class will have to be chosen once in
order to receive the award for a second time.
